ABOUT THE HOUSE
We focus on high-quality baked goods, beverages, craft cocktails, non-dairy ice creams, and healthy salads, entrees, and soups with as much local and seasonal produce as possible (we are also a 100% vegetarian cafe). You’ll find our food and treats packaged in compostable containers, to get you a quick meal on the go or to set your household up with a nutritious meal for a weeknight. When you stop in, you’ll be able to peruse what we have on hand and pick out what you need--from a plethora of prepared salads, veggie-forward soups, and fresh vegetable and fruit juices to satisfying mains and desserts with gluten-free, vegan, grain-free, and other dietary preference options. We want to be able to provide for you what you might not find in a rural Wisconsin tavern and give you a respite right where you want to be. Come grab a bright avocado toast and a fresh vegetable juice in the morning, a quick salad for lunch finished with a big slice of cake, or a quiche and a quart of soup for dinner.
**Please note that our cocktail lounge will open on May 28th and will be on Friday & Saturday nights only from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. (Kitchen closes at 9:00 p.m.)
Kaylee Walters is an Illinois small-town native gratefully transplanted into Wisconsin after spending seven years working & living in Austin, Texas. Her experiences are wide ranging: developing and overseeing a bakery and dairy-free ice cream line within a well-known farm-to-table Thai restaurant in downtown Austin, teaching both private & public baking classes (including at the Central Market Culinary Center), creating recipes for a kombucha company and its spin-off subsidiaries, managing juice cafes between Houston and Austin, interning at The Happy Pear in Greystones, Ireland, and spending time on an organic farm and in an au levain bakery for a paysan-boulanger in the south of France. The adventures rarely stopped, and neither did the determination to open up a small shop in a small town to highlight some stellar dishes and desserts that are surely not something you come across every day.

THE HOUSE CAFE - WHY SO DIFFERENT?
We aim to offer unique cuisine options in rural Wisconsin, and we hope to be your stop for your weekly healthful meal, decadent alternative dessert, and pinch of diversity in your weekly rotation. No one needs to have particular dietary choices or restrictions to enjoy a break from preparing your own healthful meals at home. Honestly, who likes spending their energy & money on buying vegetables at the store only to have to quickly whip together a salad before the ingredients go bad? Grab a to-go salad from us to pair with your baked chicken at home, grab some Indian-inspired dal or Thai curry to tease your taste buds and add some variety to your usual foods, or grab that grain-free dessert to complement your risotto or pasta at home.
